Joy, laughter and memories that will last a lifetime are all thoughts that come to mind when picturing a wedding. Though we enjoy them immensely and love being apart of the planning, coordination and overall design of these memorable events, fact is, with so many vendors working together to bring these celebrations into reality, it's easy to have things fall a part and even more difficult to pick up the pieces without the right tools. Ripped stockings, last minute migraines, paper cuts and a surprised drunk father in law are just some of things that can go wrong on anyones big day. In short, a wedding day is a beautiful war zone.
So, are you ready to take on the front lines?
While ensuring you have a day of coordinator on hand to help with unforeseen issues, having a "wedding emergency kit" of your own is still a must-have in the preparation of your big day.Though much like a first aid kit for every day cuts and bruises, bridal emergency bags are comprised of items beyond just band-aids and antiseptic wipes.
Here's a small list and some visual aids to help get you started:
- Eye Drops
- Band-Aids, Gauze, Antiseptic wipes
- Cotton Swabs
- Hair Ties
- Bobby Pins
- Brush and Comb
- Nail Clipper
- Safety Pins
- Bleaching Pen (Quick stain removal)
- Nail Polish (colors for the bride and bridesmaids)
- Dental Floss
- Sewing Kit
- Blotting Wipes
- Lint Roller
- Quick Snacks (Nutrigrain bars etc.)
Our personal emergency kit is much larger than this, complete with everything from a sewing kit to mini power tools, in case we need to put on another hat during an event because honestly, anything and everything could (and has) happened! Keep in mind that although this is a way to be prepared, it doesn't have to be the eye-sore in the corner. Decorate it, personalize it, make it a part of your event! Let your kit save the day and be a seamless inclusion at the same time.
Those of you who have created their own W.E.K. already or are in the process of doing so, what have you included?
And how did you personalize it?
